Andrew Schlussel
Assistant Professor of Surgery
Veteran Affairs Health Administration
Augusta, GA
I have completed a fellowship in Colon and Rectal Surgery and served in the US Army, which has provided me with a diverse experience in treating a wide range of colorectal patients. I have participated as core faculty for two general surgery residencies over the past 7 years. Additionally, I have maintained my proficiency in general surgery, particularly in acute care surgery. My approach involves incorporating minimally invasive techniques whenever possible for all acute care general surgery cases. My background also includes three combat deployments, equipping me with valuable expertise in managing critically ill trauma patients on the battlefield. Furthermore, I am an openly gay surgeon and would be proud to share my knowledge and insights on LGBTQ+ subjects with the SAGES community.
