Assistant Professor of Surgery

I am a trauma/acute care surgeon. I have a passion for using minimally invasive techniques and approaches in the acute care surgery realm. As technologies advance, we too should advance our practices and provided the best care possible to our patients. As a surgical educator, I find the new generation of budding surgeons have an affinity and attraction to robotics. With this rising popularity amongst our trainees, we can only expect a greater presence of MIS in a field previously dominated by open surgery.
My other passion is diversity, equity and inclusion. Being a member of the LGBTQ+ community, I have an understanding of individuals, who are not the stereotypical picture of a surgeon, struggling to have a voice in our academic community. I am devoted to breaking down the hesitation to conversation, and to do this we need speakers speaking about their experiences and adversities to make our community more understanding and cohesive.
