I am currently the Director of the Center for Obesity and Diabetes at a large Hospital in Sao PAulo, Brazil. I have pioneered the trials on gastrointestinal surgery for the treatment of diabetes back in the early 2000s. Several publications on the outcomes of metabolic surgery, including the so far only RCT on microvascular complications that involved RYGB x Best med treatment. I served as President of the Brazilian Society of Bariatric and Metabolic Surgery and President of the LAtin American chapter of IFSO
