Timely recognition and optimal treatment of the many life-threatening digestive disorders to be reviewed at this conference remain challenging in clinical practice, thereby presenting the risk of delayed recognition and effective treatment. These challenges are met with state-of-the-art laboratory testing and diagnostic imaging, transplantation and other surgical interventions, and adjunctive or independent medical therapies.
