Laparoscopic D-loop (duodenal loop) can be performed as an isolated operation or as a part of the stomach intestinal pylorus-sparing surgery (SIPS) or single anastomosis duodeno-ileostomy with sleeve gastrectomy (SADI-S).
The study aimed to demonstrate a step-by-step surgical technique of the D-loop. This technique was performed on a 59-year-old female patient with obesity. Her preoperative weight and body mass index (BMI) was 259.9 lbs and 43.2 kg/m2, respectively. In this case, the operating time was 50 mins and the total blood loss was 15 cc. The postoperative course was uneventful, and the patient was discharged on the same day. The patient is 40 days out of surgery with no complaints and has lost 4.4 BMI points.
