Summary:
This video demonstrates a Single-incision sigmoidectomy for a sigmoid colon cancer. Single-incision laparoscopic surgery requires a specialized multichannel port for introducing laparoscope and articulating instruments. We present our technique using regular ports and straight instruments for performing single-incision laparoscopic sigmoidectomy. Three ports (one 10mm and two 5mm) were inserted through a 4cm peri-umbilical incision. The medial to lateral approach was used to mobilize and divide the sigmoid vessels. We preserve the inferior mesenteric artery and superior rectal artery. After full mobilization of the sigmoid colon, it is exteriorized through the peri-umbilical incision and an extracorporeal end-to-end anastomosis is made with handsewn method. Then the mesenteric window is closed.
