This video highlights the techniques we are using to perform NOTES transgastric ventral hernia repair in a porcine model. This is a pilot study to show that we are able to deliver a mesh into the abdominal cavity under sterile conditions through the mouth and stomach. This is a follow up study to both bench top studies (which demonstrated the ability to deliver a mesh through the mouth and stomach without contamination of the mesh) and a series of non-survival studies to develop the NOTES techniques. We hope that this pilot study can set the stage for NOTES transgastric hernia repair in humans.
