Laparoscopic management of median arcuate ligament syndrome (MALS) is effective but remains technically challenging. A robotic approach provides improved visualization, dexterity, and precision, which facilitates dissection.
The patient was a 58-year-old female with chronic abdominal pain. The procedure was performed in a DaVinci-Xi System. The celiac artery was isolated and the MAL divided. Dissection continued 4-cm proximally along the aorta, dividing all celiac plexus fibers. The procedure was completed successfully in 96 minutes without any complications and minimal blood loss. At 1-month, the patient’s symptoms had completely resolved.
A Robotic approach to MALS is a safe and highly effective technique.
