Laparoscopic rectopexy for rectal prolapse is often complicated by the narrow working space of the pelvis as the sigmoid colon and uterus often obstruct visualization. Many approaches for effective retraction have been developed with limitations such as the additional incisions or ports, tissue injury and trauma, and increased internal and external collisions. Magnetic retractors are a potential solution to many of these problems. This is a demonstration of tissue retraction with a magnetic device during a laparoscopic rectopexy in an 84-year-old woman with recurrent rectal prolapse.
