As we wrote to you recently, the move away from fee-for-service and toward value based care in this country is not coming; it’s here. SAGES leadership has committed to engaging with the organizations responsible for determining what “value based care” means, so that we may learn about and perhaps influence these decisions.
The first step in the process was to join the National Quality Forum (NQF). The NQF is a not-for-profit, nonpartisan, membership-based organization that works to catalyze improvements in healthcare. Specifically, NQF: Convenes working groups to foster quality improvement in both public- and private-sectors; Endorses consensus standards for performance measurement; Ensures that consistent, high-quality performance information is publicly available; and Seeks real time feedback to ensure measures are meaningful and accurate.
