I, Andreas M Kaiser, MD FACS FASCRS, am Professor and Chief of the Division of Colorectal Surgery at City of Hope National Medical Center in Duarte, California. I have a special interest in colorectal diseases and provide a comprehensive and interdisciplinary treatment in the management of colorectal and anal cancer (primary, recurrent cancers, palliative setting), inflammatory bowel disease, acute diverticulitis, functional disorders of the colon and rectum, and benign disorders of the anus. I have pushed minimally invasive surgery (robotic, laparoscopic, endoluminal) wherever possible. Research areas Colorectal Cancer, Inflammatory Bowel Disease, Diverticulitis, and Fecal Incontinence, and the role of minimally invasive and specifically robotic surgery. I am not only committed to patient care, but also to research and education, have written numerous articles, book chapters, including his own book "McGraw-Hill Manual of Colorectal Surgery (2009)"; I am the section editor for “Chassin’s Operative Strategy in Surgery (2022)”, and one of the Editors for the “SAGES Manual of Colorectal Surgery (2020)”. I am Editor-in-Chief of "Clinical and Experimental Gastroenterology", and Associate Editor of "Diseases of the Colon and Rectum", the official journal of the American Society of Colon and Rectal Surgeons.
