I am an Assistant Professor of Surgery and Medical Education Scholar at Queen’s University. I am the Director of the Kingston Bariatric Centre of Excellence and my clinical practice is focused on Minimally Invasive Bariatric and Upper GI Surgery. I completed a Doctor of Medicine and General Surgery Residency at the University of Toronto, Canada. During my General Surgery Residency, I completed a Doctor of Philosophy degree with a focus in medical and surgical education at the Institute of Medical Science, University of Toronto, Canada. Upon completion of residency training, I completed a Clinical Fellowship in the Department of Surgery at the Ohio State University, USA in Advanced Minimally Invasive Upper GI/Bariatric Surgery and Endoscopy.
I am a member of the SAGES Research and Development Committee and was awarded the SAGES 2021 Early Career Faculty Researcher Award.
My research interests include medical and surgical education research (curriculum development, assessment, program evaluation, and simulation), as well as clinical outcomes research in bariatric and upper GI surgery.
