Dr. Andrew Bates currently serves as the Director of Minimally-Invasive Surgery at South Shore University Hospital on Long Island, part of Northwell Health. His clinical specialties include bariatric, foregut, and hernia surgery. He also serves as the Chair of the robotics committee and the Hernia Surgery Center of Excellence. He received his surgical training at the Mount Sinai Hospital in New York and completed a fellowship in Advanced GI/Bariatric Surgery at Stony Brook University Hospital. He is a co-editor of the SAGES Manual of Hernia Surgery. He has served on the Membership, Publications, and Hernia committees in SAGES.
