Course Overview
SAGES faculty will teach both didactic and hands-on skills in robotic surgery. A broad range of robotic procedures will be covered with the emphasis placed on system set up, instrument selection, and technical approaches. At the end of the course, MIS fellows and residents will become familiar with current and future robotics technology by emphasizing safe and practical applications in general surgery cases.
Travel | Honorarium | Reimbursements
The course is a 2-3 day commitment. Courses take place either on a Monday/Tuesday with a Sunday evening arrival, or Thursday/Friday with a Wednesday evening arrival. Faculty will be granted a $500.00 honorarium for participating in both days. Please only volunteer for a course if you are able to be present for both full days. Faculty are provided with roundtrip economy flights and 2 hotel room nights. Some ground transportation is provided. When it is unavailable, you may submit your ground transportation receipts for reimbursement.
Role as Faculty
Didactic: Faculty may be asked to pre-record or present live one 10 minute lecture (with or without videos) as part of the curriculum. You may create a new presentation, reuse an existing presentation, or utilize a library of sample presentations from past courses. Strange cases and blooper reels are always a hit.
Laboratory: There are 2 fellow trainees per 1 faculty per 1 station, or 3 resident trainees per 1 faculty per 1 station. Faculty are asked to assist the trainees through procedures and show them tips and tricks. Faculty are encouraged to visit multiple stations to provide trainees with a variety of expertise.
