Dimitrios Stefanidis, MD, PhD, FACS, FASMBS is an Associate Professor of Surgery at Carolinas Healthcare System with specialized training in minimally invasive and bariatric surgery. Dr Stefanidis has been an active member of SAGES since 2004 and co-chairs its guidelines committee. He also serves in the SAGES research and quality/ outcomes committees and the safe chile and robotic task forces. Dr. Stefanidis has published over 80 peer reviewed papers, written several book chapters, and has won several grants and research awards. His clinical interests include bariatric, revisional foregut, and robotic surgery, and his research focuses on surgical education, surgical outcomes, and patient safety.
