Advocacy and Community Practice
Join us for an overview and introduction to Surgical Health Policy Advocacy, from both the academic and community perspective. After an introduction to the complex world of advocacy we will delve into how to be an effective leader in your community and beyond as well as how to handle conflicts of interest ranging from your institution to your patients. Touching on additional topics from professionalism to the benefits and pitfalls of social media presence we hope to have ample time for a great Q&A session.
- Develop an understanding of the importance and scope of Surgical Health Policy Advocacy.
- Evaluate the benefits of engagement on SHPA to you, your practice, and your patients.
- Identify one or two current SPHA topics that you will seek out further information on and upon which you will take salient grassroots action.
