ADOPT Hands-On Course: Roux-en-Y to the Rescue
Surgeons continue to see more patients who require revisional bariatric surgery like a gastric bypass after sleeve gastrectomy or for salvage operations for recurrent hiatal hernia. Bariatric surgeons who completed their fellowship within the previous 5 or 10 years may not have had as much opportunity to learn the subtle techniques and elements that lead to a safe gastric bypass. This course will follow the SAGES ADOPT curriculum with a personalized 4 hour hand-on course with a 2:1 attendee:faculty ratio, followed by a year long mentorship with ongoing individual and group virtual interactions to improve adoption of the learned procedure.
- Review best practices on how to safely perform a laparoscopic gastric bypass.
- Utilize a year-long mentor-mentee relationship with an expert gastric bypass surgeon for continued guidance.
- Review different techniques to perform a gastrojejunostomy.
- Employ various strategies to safely perform gastric bypass in revisional foregut surgery.
