The First International Consensus Conference on Robotic Hepato-Pancreato-Biliary Surgery will take place from 7-9 December 2023 in Paris, France.
Since its first clinical introduction in 2000 (first Da Vinci platform from Intuitive Surgical), the robotic approach has emerged as a new route in minimally invasive surgery. In recent years, the use of the robotic approach is rapidly developing in HPB surgery either as a logical evolution of the laparoscopic approach or by experienced “non laparoscopic” surgeons. Also, the number of publications on this topic over the past 5 years has tripled, both for liver and pancreas resections.
However, precise indications, technical advantages and constraints over other routes, instrumentation, training, and credentialing are currently under debate. Problematically, early and late outcome parameters remain poorly defined. Therefore, a comprehensive assessment of the value of robotic platforms in HPB surgery seems very timely, and we propose a formal Consensus Conference format providing evidence-based guidelines. Experts from all around the world will meet in Paris for an intensive two-day discussion and attempts to cover the most recent highlights and all relevant issues on Robotic Hepato-Pancreato-Biliary Surgery. In addition to the panel discussions, we will have 3 Special Lectures given by renowned specialists.
