14th Annual Hands-On Advanced Endoscopy Fellows Course (non-CME)
This activity is designed for senior GI Fellows and advanced endoscopy Fellows and provides education in advance therapeutic endoscopy through lectures and a hands-on program. There are a limited number of travel awards available (maximum $500 per person) to help defray airfare expenses. Original receipts for travel must be submitted following the course for reimbursement. These travel awards will be awarded on a first-come basis to 3rd year and Advanced Endoscopy Fellows.
14th Annual St. Louis Live Therapeutic Endoscopy Course (CME)
This activity is designed and implemeted interprofessionally by and for physicians and nurses and intended for gastroenterologists, surgeons, primary care physicians, residents and fellows, physician assistants, nurse practitioners and gastroenterology nurses.
This course will provide education through lectures, audience question and answer, and presentation of live therapeutic endoscopy procedures transmitted from the Endoscopy Unit in the Center for Advanced Medicine to the Eric P. Newman Education Center. The goal is to highlight best practice techniques across the broad spectrum of therapeutic endoscopy. Washington University Interventional Endoscopy Section faculty, as well as nationally known therapeutic endoscopists from peer institutions, will serve as faculty with in-room commentary, lectures, live sessions moderating and facilitating discussion during and between cases and lectures.
Discuss the latest approach to endoscopic diagnosis and treatment of Barrett’s.
Outline the role of EUS, particularly in avoiding unnecessary ERCP.
Discuss the endoscopic management of benign and malignant biliary diseases.
Review the basics of endoscopic submucosal dissection and its current indications.
Discuss expected weight loss with endoscopic bararic procedures.
Hands-On Session: Demonstrate latest endoscopic procedures.
Optional Friday Hands-On Sessions: This workshop offers participants the opportunity to work one on one at hands-on stations with our expert faculty as they demonstrate the latest techniques in ERCP, EUS, endoscopic suturing, enteral stenting, endoscopic mucosal resection, ablation of Barrett’s esophagus and endoscopic bariatric therapy.
