We present an alternative technique for placing transfascial sutures using commonly encountered operating room materials. This method utilizes two 18 gauge spinal needles and a polypropylene suture to pass sutures for ventral hernia repair with mesh, or other uses. This method is inexpensive, relatively less traumatic to mesh and the abdominal wall, and is technically easy to perform. Though many commercial devices can be used for this purpose, surgeons should be aware of other techniques for transfascial suture placement.
