Wandering spleen is a congenital anomaly characterized by the absence of the splenic ligaments, which predisposes to torsion of the spleen and splenic infarction. Splenopexy is preferable to splenectomy when infarction of the spleen is not present, to preserve function, especially in children. In this video we demonstrate a technique for laparoscopic splenopexy.
