We describe our experience in the treatment of a gastro-gastric fistula after a gastric bypass. This was a 57 year woman who’s past surgical history was significant for gastric bypass 5 years prior to consultation. She complained of weight regain and gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) like symptoms. Her gastric bypass was complicated at that time by a leak of the gastrojejunostomy. For that reason, she underwent an exploratory laparotomy on postoperative day 3. An upper GI showed the presence of a gastro-gastric fistula. An EGD confirmed the diagnosis.
Decision was made to perform an exploratory laparoscopy, in order to transect the fistulous tract. Patient was discharged home on postoperative day 2. No complications were seen.
