Gastric Imbrication is a new surgery to assist patients in losing weight. However, it has had limited application because of the difficulty in sizing the new stomach. Bougies do not allow realtime information concerning the size of the stomach during an imbrications and don’t prevent “overtightening” the completed imbrication. The Endoflip device by Crospon is a catheter deployed like an NG tube. It has sensors on the end of it that allow the surgeon to take pressure, volume and size measurement while the gastric imbrication is being created. Thus allowing the surgeon to creat an imbricated stomach in real time that are consistent in size and without obstruction. This will allow surgeons to have less morbidity and better weight loss outcomes. This video demostrated how this procedure is done using the endoflip device.
