Sleeve gastrectomy is not considered to be a technically challenging operation. As the long term efficacy of gastric banding has been realized the number of patients converting to sleeve gastrectomy has increased dramatically. Errors in technique purport long term consequences and limit options should revision surgery be required. Intraoperative endoscopy and staged procedures should be considered to mitigate the risk of long term complications for revision bariatric surgery.
