The Department of Surgery at Anne Arundel Medical Center is offering a 1 to 2-year research fellowship position, starting August 1, 2020, to qualified residents and fellows pursuing a career in surgery.
Anne Arundel Medical Center is located in Annapolis, Maryland and is one of the fastest-growing hospitals in the state. We are the second busiest surgical hospital in Maryland. In addition, over the past 5 years, we have adopted the mission to significantly expand our academic activities. These efforts culminated in the recent ACGME approval of a general surgery residency at our institution.
The research fellow will work closely with surgeons to organize and direct all research efforts of the sections of MIS/GI & Bariatric Surgery within the Department of Surgery. Research efforts are focused on the conduction of single or multi-center clinical trials, retrospective and prospective database studies, video and abstract preparation for meeting submission, database design, and creation, and application for private and federal grants. Many opportunities exist to collaborate with residents and faculty from other academic institutions.
Besides full benefits, the position offers a uniquely supportive environment with ample resources including a clinical research nurse, statistical analysis support, and college interns interested in medical careers who will assist research efforts at the direction of the research fellow.
Qualified candidates will have completed at least one year of surgical residency with an academic interest and research experience.
