The Dept of Surgery at NYU Grossman School of Medicine seeks a full time fellowship-trained academic bariatric/minimally invasive surgeon. The faculty position will be at the Assistant/Associate/Full level depending on experience. The position is 50% Health and Hospitals-Bellevue Hospital (primarily bariatric surgery) and 50% Manhattan VA (primarily advanced MIS surgery).
Bellevue Hospital is the oldest public hospital in the United States and is the largest (> 800 beds) safety-net hospital in NYC. The position adds to an existing group of 5 bariatric/MIS surgeons to accommodate increasing clinical demand. The Bellevue Hospital Bariatric Surgery program is on track to perform 1600 bariatric procedures this fiscal year. The Manhattan campus of the VA New York Harbor Healthcare system is the tertiary referral center for the New York Harbor Healthcare system. The position’s primary focus is advanced MIS including hernia and foregut and collaborating with surgical oncology for complex lap cases.
The individual is expected to deliver clinical care, teach medical students, housestaff and the MIS/Bariatric Fellow and conduct scholarly activity that advances the tripartite mission of the department.
