The Department of Surgery at the Los Angeles County / Harbor-UCLA Medical Center is seeking candidates for a full-time general / bariatric surgeon within the Division of General and Bariatric Surgery. The position carries an academic appointment to the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA commensurate with the candidate’s qualifications and experience. Candidates must be board certified or eligible in general surgery. Strong consideration will be given to candidates who have completed a fellowship in Minimally Invasive / Bariatric Surgery, as well as candidates with a demonstrated interest in clinical research and academic surgery. Harbor-UCLA Medical Center is a 531-bed Hospital with a Level I Trauma Center, located in southwest Los Angeles. It serves as a major teaching hospital for the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA. Responsibilities will include patient care supervision of surgical residents, clinic, and operative duties for general and bariatric surgery patients, including robotic, endoscopic, and minimally invasive approaches. The case mix encompasses a wide array of benign foregut, bariatric, hernia / complex abdominal wall, and peritoneal dialysis catheter operations, in addition to general surgery. In addition, the successful candidate will actively participate in general and bariatric surgery quality improvement projects as well as the education of general surgery residents and UCLA medical students.
