Job Description

Merritt Hawkins has partnered with The Department of Surgery at SUNY Upstate Medical University to conduct a national search for Division Chief of Bariatric Surgery. This position will involve expanding and further developing a well-known accredited surgical program of excellence in Upstate New York.

Successful candidates must have an MD, MD/PhD or DO degree and be eligible to obtain an unrestricted New York medical license. Candidates must be board certified in general surgery and fellowship trained in bariatric/minimally invasive surgery (or have equivalent experience). Additionally, candidates should be at the Associate Professor rank or higher and have significant clinical and leadership experience in an academic medical center. In addition, a significant record of either educational or research success is required.

The Division Chief will engage in various leadership activities, provide administrative leadership, provide financial oversight, engage in academic activities and mentoring faculty, and oversee clinical and patient care services. Opportunities exist to participate and further expand clinical and translational research.

Academic appointment and salary are commensurate with qualifications and experience and are competitive both nationally and regionally.
