The Department of Surgery at New York University Grossman School of Medicine is seeking a full time fellowship-trained academic bariatric/minimally invasive surgeon. The faculty position will be at the Assistant/Associate/Full level depending on experience. The position is 100% at Health and Hospitals-Bellevue Hospital, located at 462 First Avenue, adjacent to the NYU Medical Center Complex (550 First Avenue) . Bellevue Hospital is the oldest public hospital in the United States and is the largest safety-net hospital in NYC. The Bellevue Hospital Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery Program has been MBSAQIP accredited since 2010 and currently performs approximately 1800 procedures annually. The existing group of surgeons also performs MIS cases for foregut disease (Nissen/Heller, etc.), hernias (including robotic TAPP), benign colon disease and choledocholithiasis (lap common duct explorations). There is an opportunity to expand the MIS cases by strengthening the collaborations/referrals among the other 10 hospitals in the H&H network. The individual is expected to deliver clinical care, teach medical students, housestaff and the MIS/Bariatric Fellow and conduct scholarly activity that advances the tripartite mission of the department.
