McMaster University in conjunction with Hamilton Health Sciences is seeking an academic General Surgeon with specialized training in advanced endoscopy. The position will be based at the Hamilton General site, a tertiary level trauma centre serving a catchment area of more than 2.5 million residents. The General Surgery service, together with the Department of Surgery, McMaster University is involved in undergraduate, post-graduate and continuing medical education programs.
The successful candidate will be expected to demonstrate experience and training in General Surgery, including participation in an Acute Care Surgery service and trauma service appropriate for an academic tertiary care level referral centre. The successful candidate will bring advanced Endoscopy training and expertise to the Division and collaborate clinically and academically with an active Gastroenterology program. He/she will be expected to show evidence of exceptional interpersonal and collaborative skills with initiative to further advance the clinical and academic productivity of the Division of General Surgery.This is a full time faculty position for a period of three years (renewable) in the Department of Surgery, Faculty of Health Sciences, McMaster University. A commitment and demonstrated interest in research and surgical education at all levels are essential, as well as active participation in research programs and academic initiatives of the Division of General Surgery.
Applicants must be certified (or eligible for certification) by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada in General Surgery and,
have completed fellowship training. The candidate must be eligible for licensure in the Province of Ontario. All qualified candidates are encouraged to apply.
