ACADEMIC BARIATRIC SURGEON

This 726-bed acute care, research and teaching hospital is also home to the internationally renowned Centre for Minimal Access Surgery, which offers education and training in minimally invasive procedures for surgeons and nurses. In addition to being a lead site for the Provincial Bariatric Surgical Network, St. Joseph’s Healthcare Hamilton is also now designated as one of six Bariatric Centres of Excellence in the province of Ontario.
The Department of Surgery of McMaster University in affiliation with St. Joseph’s Healthcare Hamilton is seeking applications from suitable candidates for an academic Bariatric surgeon. The individual must be eligible for license in the province of Ontario and have Fellowship and/or specialized training in Bariatric Surgery. Prospective candidates must have experience in a multidisciplinary Bariatric program and will participate in the General Surgery on-call schedule.
This position will have a strong academic/research focus. The individual will have demonstrated research success and productivity and will be expected to initiate and participate in education and training at all levels, including post-graduate Minimally Invasive Surgery. Administrative and or leadership experience would be an asset. A geographic full time appointment at the academic level commensurate with the candidate’s experience and achievement will be granted to the successful candidate within the Department of Surgery, Faculty of Health Sciences, McMaster University.
