Advanced Minimally Invasive and Bariatric Surgeon – Loyola University Medical Center
The Department of Surgery at Loyola University Chicago (LUC) Stritch School of Medicine invites applications for a full-time Minimally Invasive and Bariatric Surgeon to join its comprehensive, multidisciplinary programs in bariatric surgery and digestive health at the assistant or associate professor level.
The Loyola Center for Metabolic Surgery and Bariatric Care (MSBC) provides a comprehensive program of education and care for patients with obesity and metabolic diseases. The center performs a full complement of laparoscopic and robotic primary and revisional metabolic surgeries. Medical bariatricians and physician extenders are actively involved in patient care and provide medical weight loss solutions to our patient population. The medical, psychological, nutritional, and surgical staff are specialists in the surgical and medical management of obesity.  The center offers a separate outpatient facility at our Loyola Gottlieb campus (hosting all the disciplines), regular endoscopy time, and robotic block time at our main campus in Maywood and at our Gottlieb campus. We are in the process of applying for a comprehensive center of excellence at our Gottlieb campus in addition to our long-standing COE site at the main Loyola campus.
The Loyola Digestive Health Program also houses surgeons who care for patients with benign foregut diseases and can provide surgeries to address esophageal reflux, achalasia, and paraoesophageal hernias. Qualified candidates will be able to perform minimally invasive surgery to address complex general surgery problems. Those with skills and experience with advanced endoscopic therapies are encouraged to apply.
The ideal candidate will be experienced with laparoscopic surgery, robotic surgery, and endoscopy.  A medical degree and board certification in General Surgery are required, as well as fellowship training in Minimally Invasive/Bariatric Surgery, with an ability to perform bariatric surgery. Salary will be commensurate with experience and rank.
Interested candidates should email cover letter and CV to Dr. Vivian Gahtan, Chair of Surgery, care or Danica Denning, Physician Recruitment Office, at danica.denning@luhs.org as well as apply online at http://www.careers.luc.edu.
