Special Fee Waiver for Advanced GI MIS Certificate

As surgical education evolves, SAGES is helping the field by developing more competency-based approaches to fellowship training and assessment. As part of that effort, the Society created a series of innovative video-based assessments (VBA).

As a current fellow, you can help the Society pilot its new Fundoplication VBA. As a thank you, we will waive your $100 application fee for the Advanced GI MIS Fellowship Certificate. Participating involves three steps:

  1. Sign up below and we will send you your personal account information for our VBA online platform. Within two business days, you will receive a separate email from SurgEase Support stating your CHiP account has been created.
  2. Log into your account and upload your videos (upload instructions provided after signing up below). To qualify for the waiver, you must submit TWO unedited videos of MIS fundoplication cases in which you acted as the Primary Surgeon.
  3. Once we’ve confirmed your videos have been uploaded, you will receive a special link to complete the certificate application with the $100 fee waived. If you choose to add the ACT Seal in Advanced Flexible Endoscopy, a $25 fee will apply.

The deadline for signing up for this special fee waiver is July 31, 2025.

CASE INCLUSION CRITERIA:

  • Posterior (Nissen or Toupet) fundoplication performed
  • Patient is >18 years old; Hiatal hernia of no more than 4 cm
  • Fellow served as the Primary Surgeon on the submitted procedures
  • The assistant or supervising faculty did not provide any meaningful instruction, guidance, or intervention for the critical portions of the case
  • Case completed laparoscopically or robotically and same approach used in both submitted videos

  • No patient identifiers
  • Have permission to grant SAGES use of de-identified data and images from the submitted videos for research and education purposes
