SAGES Outcomes Initiative
The SAGES Task Force on Outcomes is pleased to announce that all SAGES members may now register to participate in the on-line SAGES Outcomes Initiative being managed through Whispercom.
The advantages of the system are:
- real-time benchmarking - compare your results to the study group instantly
- web-based application which can be accessed from home, office, laptop, etc.
- no need to purchase expensive software - just enter your cases into the form on-line
- ability to meet present and future data requirements for credentialing, contracting and reimbursement
- free to all SAGES members
There is a general surgical log, into which you may put most of your surgical cases, which will enable you to track data such as infection rates and length of stay. Five specific modules are available for GERD, gallbladder, colorectal surgery, hernia, and morbid obesity are now available. A pediatrics module is under development. Detailed reports of the data submitted are available on-line in which your results can be compared to those of the database as a whole.
Data submission to the SAGES Outcomes Database is confidential, with all physician and patient identifiers stripped from the data prior to submission.
