SAGES Flexible Endoscopic Surgery Course for MIS Fellows

The next SAGES Flexible Endoscopic Surgery Courses for MIS fellows will be held this fall in Miami, Florida at the University of Miami, September 25-26, 2008 and in Houston, Texas November 20-21, 2008 at the Methodist Institute for Technology, Innovation and Education (MITIE).

Please note the new date for the November Course above.

We are asking Fellow Directors to nominate 1 MIS fellow from their program to attend this hands-on course. Only one nominee per program will be accepted and the nominee must be a SAGES Candidate Member.

Space is limited and therefore registration will be “first-come-first-served”. For those selected, SAGES will provide the following: lodging, meals, course fees, and ground transportation to the course.

Interested participants, may request a registration form via email by contacting at the SAGES office.

"New Modalities in Therapeutic Flexible Endoscopy Course"

The Society of American Gastrointestinal and Endoscopic Surgeons (SAGES) and the Western Surgical Association (WSA) have partnered for a special SAGES flexible endoscopy course to be offered at the WSA Annual Meeting. The course, titled New Modalities in Therapeutic Flexible Endoscopy, will provide the participant with the latest information on therapeutic endoscopy as it pertains to surgeons and illustrate how flexible endoscopy is changing the face of minimally invasive surgery. This course will include a comprehensive description of available and emerging therapeutic endoscopic techniques. It will include lectures by six surgical endoscopic experts on GI management, new technologies (stents, glues and clips), introperative endoscopy (surgically-assisted endoscopy/endoscopically-assisted surgery), new endolumenal treatments for GERD and Barrett's, and the future of endoscopy, including NOTES (Natural Orifice Translumenal Endoscopic Surgery). This course is didactic only.

CME statement: The Society of American Gastrointestinal and Endoscopic Surgeons (SAGES) is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) to sponsor Continuing Medical Education for physicians.

The Society of American Gastrointestinal and Endoscopic Surgeons (SAGES) designates this educational activity for a maximum of 3.75 credits in AMA PRA Category 1 Credit(s)™. Physicians should only claim credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.
