Objectives:
At the Conclusion of the Course, the participant will be able to:
Describe the laparoscopic technique for the various types of colon resection
List the indications for laparoscopic colon resection
Discuss the outcomes of laparoscopic colon resection for diverticulitis, inflammatory bowel disease, and cancer
Who Should Attend:
Surgeons, residents and fellows interested in laparoscopic colon surgery should attend this course. GI assistants and nurses are also welcome for the didactic portion.

Course Description:
The course will consist of two options: an all day didactic course and a combined 1Ú2day didactic and 1Ú2 day hands-on course. The morning session for both options will include a demonstration and discussion of current laparoscopic techniques for treating colon and rectal disease. In the afternoon didactic session, world recognized experts and pioneers in the field will discuss outcomes, patient selection, and the management of
diverticulitis, inflammatory bowel disease and cancer patients.Lab Description:
In the animal lab, participants will perform laparoscopic sigmoid resection.
Logistics:
Shuttle to the Weill Cornell Medical College will be available outside the Hilton at 6:30 AM with return to the Hilton at 5:00 PM. Shuttle to USSC for the lab will be available at the Weill Cornell Medical College at 12:00 Noon with return to Hilton at 5:00 PM.
