Laparoscopic foreign body removal: a case on clinical decision making

Maria Abou Khalil, MD, Noura Al Hassan, MD, Melina Vassiliou, MD, MEd, FRCSC. McGill

This video highlights some of the clinical decision making elements that came up during a case on call, that of the removal of a foreign object from the abdomen.

We present this video as we think it might generate a discussion on some concepts that came up during the surgery, such as intraoperative gastroscopy for removal of foreign body from the duodenum, a cholecystectomy for a secondarily inflammed gallbladder, and wether or not to leave a drain in such a situation.
