Conversion of Laparoscopic Adjustable Gastric Band Removal to Laparoscopic Sleeve Gastrectomy: A Two Step Procedure

Laparoscopic adjustable gastric band removal is occuring at an increasing rate.. In many cases, a second bariatric operation is desired for maintaining or continuing weight loss. We present a case report showing the key steps during lap band removal to allow for a successful gastrectomy as a second operation 3 months later. There is current controversy as to the best method for performing sleeve gastrectomy after band removal; this video shows that a staged operation is a reasonable option in bariatric surgery.
