The Department of Surgery at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine is seeking a full-time Chief of the Division of Minimally Invasive Surgery. Interested candidates must be board-certified or board-eligible and eligible for licensure in the State of Maryland.
Appointed by and reporting directly to the chair, department of surgery at JHUSOM, the division chief of Minimally Invasive Surgery shall serve as the leader of his/her respective business unit in addition to fulfilling all clinical, research, and academic programmatic goals as set forth in the letter of employment and other related documents. The division chief is dually responsible for achieving programmatic excellence as a senior faculty leader as well as maintaining financial viability of the business unit under the direction of the chair and in conjunction with the department administrator.
The division chief will be responsible for the surgical personnel in these two separate sections:
1. Foregut surgery
2. Abdominal wall reconstruction
He or She will expand integration across the academic campuses (East Baltimore Campus and Bayview Medical Center) and within the National Capitol Region (Sibley Hospital, Suburban Hospital, and Howard County General Hospital.
In this role the Chief will be expected to develop programmatic growth within the division that is in line with the strategic plan of Johns Hopkins Medicine emphasizing discovery, education and patient centric care. In addition the division chief will work with other surgery division heads to enhance MIS and robotic approaches and training throughout out the Department of Surgery and Johns Hopkins Medicine.
