Join a busy General and Bariatric Surgeon in private practice that needs an associate to meet the growing demand for services. This well-trained, Board Certified surgeon has been in the community 7 years and has a reputation for quality services.

Specializing in laparoscopic surgeries including gastric bypass, LAP-BAND, gastric sleeve and general surgery procedures, the surgeon’s practice has been designate a Center of Excellence by the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery.
• A Partnership Track is available.
• A mix of approximately 70% bariatric work and 30% general surgery is anticipated for the new surgeon
• Seeks a BC/BE surgeon experienced and comfortable with band, sleeve and bypass techniques.
• Call every third weekend

Community, Facility and Organization
Facility serves a seven county area. More than 22,500 people utilize the services of the facility and its sister facility, every month. In addition to everything expected from full-service acute care hospitals, the hospitals also provide an Emergency/Trauma Department, Urgent Care Centers, Rural Medical Clinics in surrounding communities, a Health & Wellness Center, a Senior Care Center, an Occupational Medicine Center, inpatient & outpatient rehabilitation, a Sleep Disorders Center and now the new Women & Children’s Center. The hospital has a medical staff of more than 238, and is accredited by the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Health Care Organizations (JCAHO).
Over the past 6 years, the facility has invested $35 million in renovations and expansions at both hospitals. A full-service heart program was established, and a new ICU, Transitional ICU, and Day Surgery Center were completed. More recently, a 64-slice CT scanner to the Radiology Department to aid in the detection of heart disease and to use in Trauma cases when medical attention is needed in the most critical, “Golden Hour” was added. In 2010 the Da Vinci robot was purchased and completed the year with over 250 cases. In 2011 the facility’s imaging services were expanded to include the Philips 1.0 Tesla Open Concept MRI.

The facility located in one of the oldest cities in Texas. Five major state highways cross in the area , which is conveniently located just 30 minutes from the welcoming beaches of the Gulf Coast, and within a two-hour drive of the state’s largest metro areas—Houston, Austin, San Antonio and Corpus Christi.

From a growth standpoint, in August of 2010, Caterpillar announced that it has selected the city as the location for the company’s new state-of-the-art hydraulic excavator manufacturing facility. The facility is began production in 2012.

In 2007, a 159 million dollar bond was passed to improve schools. Funds were allocated for 2 new high schools, 1 new middle school, 2 new elementary schools and a District Event Center. The is now the largest public school system in the region with 15 elementary schools, three middle schools, a two-campus high school as well as a magnet high school, 103 total buildings, 14 athletic fields and more than 2,200 employees. Also in place within the VISD system are Magnet School programs, including a Montessori program, programs for gifted students, a campus for those students with exceptional needs, one alternative program campus as well as a vocational education campus that offers classes in welding, computer networking, food management and production, cosmetology, auto repair and building trades.
