Academic General Surgery – Bariatric Surgery/Minimally Invasive Surgery

Department of Surgery Division of General Surgery at the University of Missouri is seeking outstanding candidates for the position of Assistant Professor (tenure-track or clinical-track). Promoted ranks higher than Assistant are negotiable contingent upon qualifications. This position will have joint appointments with University of Missouri Hospital and Clinics, Women’s and Children’s Hospital, and Harry S Truman VA Hospital in Columbia, Missouri. A fully functional, well equipped and staffed surgical services team is in place to quickly build a robust surgical practice.

This is a faculty position designated to pursue clinical and academic opportunities in General Surgery. The successful candidate should be Board Eligible or Board Certified. Advanced fellowship training in bariatric surgery and/or minimally invasive surgical procedures is required. Candidate must have an expertise in Roux-en-Y gastric bypass procedures.

Candidate should have demonstrated qualifications and strong emphasis on teaching surgical residents and fellows and maintaining a high quality residency training program. This position further requires the credentials to perform duties as a mentor for the Minimally Invasive Surgery and Bariatric Surgery Fellowship Program. Additional attributes considered important to this position include having proven leadership qualities, exceptional surgical technique, and interests in developing a research program.
